Early Industrial Achievements
In 1903 the ETU affiliated with
the NSW Trades & Labor Council and the first claims were
made for multiple hourly rates for overtime and for tool allowances.
It was in 1904 that the first
log of claims was prepared for pay, hours of work and conditions,
and an award sought from the court to be common for the trade
in NSW.
Two years later the ETU achieved
its first Award, the Electricians & c (State) Award - This
Award remains the principle private industry award for electrical
tradespeople.
